LMI 2014 Information
The time is on us already.
Where do we go to contest? Most of us struggle with this every year.
The Alexander City Bands and the Alex City Band Boosters would like to cordially invite your band, parents, and community to participate in The Lake Martin InvitationalMarching Contest on October 4, 2014. We offer a fine venue for performance and competition, a comprehensive awards program, and a fair and objectively judged contest. Our contest is easy to attend, judged by experienced teachers, and very well-organized. We offer a recap that disseminates ALL SCORES FROM ALL CAPTIONS for all to see. Our mission is to provide a smooth competition in an atmosphere filled with fans enjoying and showing enthusiasm for great performances.
We encourage you to ask anyone who has been to LMI about our contest!
We are assembling an exceedingly qualified adjudication panel. We have a clear contest philosophy centered on performance. Our panel will provide a thorough, meaningful evaluation as a tool for you to help your band improve.
Our entire experience is about our students’ performance!

Class A: up to 25 Class AA: 26-45 Class AAA: 46-65 Class AAAA: 66-95 Open Class: 96 and up

One majorette will be considered “feature” automatically. We will also award Most Entertaining Band, Best High Brass and Best Low Brass, Best Woodwind Section, Outstanding Soloist, High Music, and High Marching Score. Caption scores determine High Marching and Music awards. A combination of G.E. score and judges’ vote determine Most Entertaining Band. Best Woodwinds, Brass, and Outstanding soloists are determined by vote of the Band judges. Awards will immediately follow the Exhibition performance.
Included in the Contest packages will be a complete contest recap, judges’ sheets, a complimentary press box video of your band’s performance, an mp3 audio recording of your band’s performance, and a disc of complimentary digital photographs from your band’s performance. Judges' recordings and the mp3 of your show will be posted to a private website for download by Sunday, October 5th. This will make it possible for you to share this information with your students more readily in the classroom, and will allow everyone associated with your band program the opportunity to listen on their own at your discretion.
